does he like me or am i a super cool friend?

Hey all
I've been away for a little while.
okay so here's my question to keep it brief....
i have this friend who i met about 2 years ago, we small talk, email, msn etc. hung out a couple of times.
in the last few months we'd been running into each other at various venues and have wound up talking more and hanging out a bit. i have developed a crush on him as of late and it's minus the fact i can see him as cute, soley based on personality. i can't tell if he likes me at all though, he's kinda a local celeb and has lotsa contact for starters so i don't know if he's just this super nice cool friendly guy who thinks the same of me.
here's the facts:
he has been making an effort to hang out with me though and to get to know my friends. always msgs me on msn (no biggie) etc.
last week randomly he asked me to go shopping with him skipped work and then suggested we go grab a couple of drinks whilst we lost track of time and ended up making a day out of it
came to visit me at my new job and hung out with me for 2 hours just chilling while i was busy, solo at that.
i went out for a smoke and he threw his jacket over my shoulders
he came over the day after that to have a few drinks before we headed out to a bar
whilst we were sitting on the sofa alone i happened to lean on his leg a bit while i was getting something and i could just feel him paying attention to it? i stopped and a little after he stroked/grabbed my shoulder and then quickly moved his hand away and didn't say anything (i didn't make eye contact with him just ignored it) but it was in a totally silent moment
at the bar were with some now mutual friends but whenever he walked by us would only to me squeeze my hip
is coming to visit me at work tomorrow again
he always says i'm cute, my display pics etc.
what do you guys think? talking to him is super easy.
and if he does like me how can i get him to make the first move
reason i ask is because i like his persona so much i could get over the romantic interest easy and wouldn't want to tamper with the friendship at all as it's getting stronger, ideas?

There is some interest there, but how much is anyone's guess.

When in doubt I go for a kiss, but then again I'm a guy.

since i'm not a guy what do i do?
i'm cool if he just came up and kissed me (obviously) but i don't know how i feel doing that as the situation is delicate or usually i would.

Well, what does "local celeb" actually mean? Does it mean he gets lots of play and expects women to just fall into his lap? Have you ever known him to have a girlfriend? You need to figure this stuff out before you cross the line.

local celeb in that we both are industry workers if you guys know what that is. he is very humble and doesn't talk about his work (he's kinda an artist of sorts) but a lot of people want to be subjects in his work and are perpetually coming up to him/us or whoever he is with while we are out and what not. he never has hit on any of these girls at all. if anything becomes friends. he's a genuinely good guy.
