How do you deal with difficult text? The sentence structures are complicated and I need to get through the books as fast as I can because of the time constraint I have to do my research essay. I usually read the intro and the conclusions first to help me understand the text better. But do you guys have any other advice?

Ugh. I hate dense text. Sometimes it's a good idea to look elsewhere for understanding and then come back to the original work. Sometimes if I can't understand an article in a scientific periodical I'll look up a wiki entry or something to get the gist and then come back to it.

See if there is a cliff notes.
I would usually read those first, then go back and read the text. It would help me understand what was going on.Sometimes I worry about being a success in a mediocre world
