what can i do to get back together?

So I still really want to get back together with my ex. It's been 5 months since we've broken up and a month since he last contacted me to see how I am doing. I am in town this week and I don't know what to do. Should I contact him, keep ignoring him and waiting for him to make the move. Also his birthday is this week. I just miss him so much and I still love him so much. I feel like he's not really happy with the single life from what people have told me but I could be completely wrong. But he doesn't talk about that stuff to ANYBODY so I have no way of knowing what he's really feeling. I just wish I could do something to nudge him along if he would consider giving us another shot.

If it's been awhile, it couldn't hurt to talk to him. The big thing to avoid is just coming off as desperate or needy. Even though that happens so often, and people just want to desperately cry how much they love someone and how right they are for someone, it can really put somebody off.

Talk to him, but don't mention the whole 'getting back together' thing right away. Keep it casual, and don't act like a miserable victim.
