    Dreams....argh!

Ok, I did look in the search & found the very useful sticky thread about forgetting someone...but...I'm sure I'm not the only one here...

How the heck do you stop yourself dreaming about your ex!?!

It's ok during the day, I keep busy. But at night, I dream he's there with me, & I wake up to an empty bed, that nasty feeling like I've been kicked in the heart and the most unbareable feeling of loneliness.... this has happened every night for over a month now & its not getting easier?

I've tried dreaming about other men, tried getting so drunk that I fall asleep (!) (didn't work, just woke up feeling naff!), staying awake, reading...everything. But he's always there in my dream with me

your still getting over him, and your subconcious is just not letting go....a month is not a long time, especially when your getting over a messy break-up...give yourself time, nights are always the hardest.

I am sorry for you but in a way glad as I am doing the same thing but only for a week so far and now know that this is what happens when you are deep in love with some one.
I have decided to enjoy my dreams as I can have what I did not have with her at the time.

Yep, I fell hard for him....finding it hard to stop thinking about him! x

I hope so, not on the look out at the moment, but I'm sure, when the time is right, Mr RIGHT will come a'knocking!

    Hey Lava,
I have been plagued by dreams like this, or are they nightmares? its the subsonscience doing its thing to allow you to cope and better unstand things. First month after the breakup with my Ex I had dreams about getting my Ex back both of us ending up in each others arms then for a brief minute I'd feel like I used too feel, then I would wake up realising it was all a dream. Very unpleasant the waking up bit. Now I'm still dreaming of her but the dreams seem to be focus'd on her in the background and not on "US" so much. This is 6 weeks on.

I wish i didn't dream of her at all but I suppose its the way our minds make some sense of things, I'm told eventually they will stop or change into something else, sooner the better I think too!

Thanks Chazza, I'm not the only one then - started to think I was going mad!! x

I woke up again last night, in a cold sweat. He was in my dream but behind an iron gate. I couldn't get to him, I tried so hard - but there was this big obvious thing in our way. Frustrating, but must be my brain working things out. Grr!!

I then fell back to sleep & dreampt all my teeth fell out - no point me trying to work this one out - I'm a Dental Nurse with a very busy afternoon full of extractions haha xx

No probs, thought i was going a little strange in dreaming of her so much too, was good to see your post so thanks.

Last night I dreamed me and the Ex were at a party but everytime I tried to go across the room to talk to her a wave of people would be in my way, I guess that must be the fact she is unavailable to me now somehow showing up. Well or who knows what else it could mean, I'm not a psychologist

Not sure on your other dream lava, id put it down to work like you said, must have been a tough day!

    haha xx

I guess it's the same format of dreams, an obstruction, something stopping you. Same for me. Going to stare at a photo of a fit naked man tonight in the hope I dream about that instead hahaha xxx

    Heheh

Yeah sueing for leaving a gap, that is something that really should give you nightmares Lava, there are some strange people around arent there

Interesting Idea Lava let me know if it works with the naked picture, I'll have to modify the concept a little, from man to women though or who knows what I'll end up dreaming

    Sweet dreams

i was dreaming of an ex for days consecutively too.. it was the worst because we ended our relationship on bad terms so i would keep dreaming of him finally calling me or finally IMing me online. And just as we were about to make up, i would wake up and realize we were still on non-talking terms. it's sad bc at one point, i rather go to sleep and dream of us then want to stay awake knowing we are over.
as time passed, the dreams went away... but as soon as i saw him again in school, they've begun again. whyy me....

ROFL!! Goodness. All your teeth fell out?

I dream about my past.. ex's included. I dream a lot of things.
I have nightmares too. Dreams can be healthy as long as if you don't confuse them with reality.

They say when you dream about your teeth falling it signifies a resistance to change.

I dream about my teeth falling out all the time and sometimes depending on what's happening it sorta makes sense. (ex. being with my sister and having my teeth fall out during her separation from her husband that I was very opposed to)

just food for thought... but i did mention in another dream thread... sometimes you can't put much stock in dreams... tho it might be helpful write down your thoughts about him before you go to bed so that they aren't fresh in your mind...

dreaming about exes is the worst... hope it gets better.
Ted, how do I explain this to you. Last night, I ate the best cake of my life. Do you think I'm gonna let that cake out of my life? Hell no. I'm gonna find out what bakery made that cake and I'm gonna get some more cake.

Last night was the worst night ever. I didn't dream about my ex at all, but his elderly father (who has been pretty ill most of this year). God it was awful, I actually woke up crying...because he was really ill, & I couldn't do anything about it as I was too far away to get to him. Damn you brain... :-/

I might go see him the weekend, dunno. Not been round there or spoken to him since we split up and I care very much for him. Maybe that's it, he's also in my thoughts as I have been really worried about him.

I never knew that about teeth dreams, figures really doesn't it! x

I might try that tonight thankyou, will write stuff down before falling asleep - see if that works, as the naked men didn't xxx
