Does a time out work ? When you have had a major disagreement but you love her, if there is no contact from her for the 3 week period agreed upon do you begin missing her more ?

Well if your feelings for her are strong then you will definately miss her. I'm currently on a break myself and it sucks cuz i love her and it's for two months, but I know things will work out for the better so i'm trying to pull through. So if the goal is positive and you want things to work then just hang in there and it'll be all good.

I would never do a planned break or no contact period with a lover. No offense to anyone or not to discourage, but imo it's a doomed relationship, case closed.

See i think it's circumstancial though. If you can look at the situation realistically and see that lack of contact is beneficial then there's no reason not to try. I mean obviously if it's "hey let me just sex up some other guys real quick and see what happens" then obviously that is going nowhere. I dunno, i don't like the idea of them at all but i trust the girl who i'm with so i truly believe that it is for the better, however i am also prepared for the worst.

3 weeks no. That's a "break" and breaks means breaking up.

Timeouts are hours maybe 1 day tops. And yes, those are beneficial 3 weeks however, that just leaves one party pissed at the other and there's no telling what the PO'ed party might do.

Definitely agreed, when a relationship is deep, intimate and good, spats and differences are settled quickly so that it's off to the makeup sex :-) If I need a month away from someone or vice versa, more than likely we don't need or really want each other in our lives.
