Moving back to Philly from NOLA

What a ride its been, but as most of you know I've grown tired of New Orleans.

I would've liked to have gone to a completely different and new city, but heading home I think could be very beneficial for me if I can manage to get into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (Union). They have one of the best apprenticeship programs in the US and if I'm gonna be doing this stuff for a while, I might as well try to learn from some of the best.

CB, I'd prefer you leave her name out of the public forum.

But yes, she will be initially, but then she's flying back to Texas to visit her family for a month or two while I look for work and a place to stay.

It looks like a good time to go too, the coast by the looks of things won't get cleaned up for awhile.

Good luck with the move Fras! Are you moving permanently?

Yes, it will be permanent in that I'll probably be there for a few more years.

Something tells me though, that far off in the future, I'll be settling in Texas.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

    I'm beginning to get anxious.

The foreman I've been working under for the past year is quitting this week.

The job has been coming to a close, and I've seen well over a hundred guys come through this building.

It sometimes amazes me how I've managed to stay on the job longer than some of them.

Nobody knows I'm leaving yet, though someone (and I know who), did slip to the foreman that is leaving that I was going to move to Philly.

That's my fault because I should've kept my mouth shut, but I had let it slip out in conversation.

Anyway, I always find it to be kinda bittersweet to either leave a company or watch good guy leave.

It takes time to get to know everyones quirks, and once you're familiar, it kinda becomes comfortable.

I feel like this is a test, though. Putting myself back on the job market in a completely different city. I want to find out how much I've improved myself, how much I've learned.

The unknown can be intimidating sometimes.

The unknown can also be exciting. It's fulfilling to take that leap and land right on your feet. The sense of accomplishment you'll get will be most satisfying.

Good luck with everything Fras. I think you will find more opportunity in Philly than NOLA.
