So there is this guy that I had a bit of a crush on for sometime. I asked him about hanging out in September and he agreed to it and he said he was wondering if it could get physical. He told me he was not ready for a relationship but he thought I was really cute, smart and funny. I just figured if he had been ready for a relationship he would have wanted to try something with me. Anyway, I only wanted something physical since I had to go away for about 3 months, so I agreed to it. We had fun together and then I left, then I came home and he said he no longer wanted to do that with me. He just wanted to be friends. We have fun together even if we hang out as friends. Anyway, I got confused and told him how I was developing feelings for him. He told me he didn't feel the same and he never would. He said he knew I had a crush on him before getting physical with me and he knew he would never return the feelings. He has been in an on and off again relationship with a girl for 8 years, this girl has caused nothing but drama in his life the entire time. He now no longer talks to her and says he doesn't want a relationship with anyone because of her...he just wants to be single for a while. I got really upset...I may have been more upset then I should have been. He said he will message me again in a few weeks about hanging out as friends. Is it possible that I do not have a chance with this guy at all? Or was he just so messed up with this past ex-gf that he isn't even willing to give anyone a chance? He was excited to see me when I first came home, he would send me private messages to say how he excited he was to hang out with me.

I don't think how it began really matters. He said he's not ready for a relationship, he wants to be friends with you, and he has a gf.

He told you he doesn't have feelings for you and never will. I think that's a very clear answer to your question. He rejected you. It doesn't matter why. Just move on.
