I think that he only wants you around for as long as he's in your town, but as soon as he moves he doesn't want to keep any relationship going or anything. I suggest you don't have sex with him before he leaves for good (I suspect he is looking for that only).

Have you discussed continuing to keep in touch/see each other after he's moved? I know LD sucks, but 300 miles isn't necessarily unthinkably far- like a 5 hour drive, right? if he's not open to staying in touch with you, then he's definitely not as into you as you are into him. i would also suggest proceeding slowly.
