who makes the first move?

my guy friend told me that before a guy asks a girl out or sees interest in dating her, he would notice that girls would hint them first that they like this particular guy? what's your opinion?

I personally like it when the guy takes the first initiative. I like to feel like he's the prince that swipes me off my feet.

I personally like it when a girl make a bit of a move. But then I do believe in the equality of the sexes. I suspect for many women it's so much easier to leave the running to the men.
