Well, best way IMO is firstly just start smiling at her when you walk past... Then just pop the old 'hello' in. Should be a good ice breaker... Worked for me in the past

Take it step at a time

1. first smile
2. then the hello after she starts smilling back
3. make general chit chat

The best situation, really, is to begin the conversation when you two are doing the same thing. I don't know the environment you're in, but if you're at work, maybe when you pass by in the hall, just talk about something. Could be something quirky, or something a bit more ordinary... but if you talk about what you two are involved in (the work, maybe the restaurant if you're at lunch, something strange about the school, etc.), it's not hard to find a hit on a running conversation. Then you can take it from there.

Okay, so you see her half an hour each day. That should answer the "when do i say it?" question. I need some information. Where do you see her? It sounds like you guys both go somewhere that you both have to go to for a while, hence why you see her every day. Maybe striking up a conversation about that. Start broad... pick a subject you're sure that just about anybody can relate to. School, work, etc... start to get to know her, and then maybe move on from there.

she stays for that time in the cafeteria and i try to be at the same place too. she has lunch with her friend(girl) at that time.
