I've been with my boyfriend for 3 years now, known him for 5 and we are about to start a life together soon. We are currently in a long distance relationship and he is the only person I have ever been with
Recently I have been wondering if the way you meet really matters. As he and I met and got to know eachother online I feel like we don't really have a story and, as he is the only one I have ever been with, I have never tried anything else.
Anyway, I am not unhappy in any way I am just curious

- So, does it matter how you meet and if you have a "story"?

nah, a story doesnt really matter. When people ask you how you met, they arnt really interested, they are just being polite. There isnt a stigma to meeting your partner online anymore. Its not like the old days when only ugly people and agrophobics met online. I met my partner online and when people ask me, i say i rescued her from the circus. You can use that if you want.

My date for tomorrow I met online. The date I had last week I met online. My last two partners I met online. Who cares. Online dating sites are just a modern version of the old introduction agencies.

i cant speak for the other posters, but i done that so often , i was beginining to get a bad name. and often the women you meet in a bar are reeking and usually have a disease. if you know where to look , there is a much better class of punani on the interweb and you can do it from the comfort of your own home. Also you can get a good collection of naked pics before they realise you are a lying bstd. You cant really do that in a bar.

1. There is only one half decent bar and the women there are not in my age bracket.
2. I don't have the money to spend in bars.
3. I've given up drinking.

It doesn't matter at all. I met my partner, who lives in another country, online (not internet dating) and I have never felt so strongly about someone in my life before. You guys still have a story. I don't understand why you don't think the past three years of being together isn't considered having a story?

I was being sarcastic. Anyways you can still meet people at social events, coffee houses or outdoor activities. My brother-in-law met his wife playing slow pitch baseball.

I met my husband at a night club I worked at, he was a customer lol.
