How do YOU break the norm...

"Remember..you are unique...just like everyone else.."

There is what we call "average" and then there's "breaking the norm".

I'm defining "average" as what most people do...those inside the 70% on the bell-shaped curve.

For example..most of us probably wear clothes...so we are average in that respect. But say for example you always wear black and paint your nails black (goth), well here you can call yourself outside of the norm...because 7 in 10 people are not gothic.

So let's share where you feel you break the norm. You can define the norm as it pertains to your specific area's traditions or you can look at it in a grander scale..it's up to you.

    How are YOU weird?

    Go....

Music. I have a rather diverse taste in music. Music from Katie melua, Johann pachelbell, Simple Plan to Asian kung-fu generation (jap). People my age seem to think that everyone thier age listen to "Hip hop" "R'n'B" and "rap". However 9 X out of 10 people say they don't like my type of music. Don't know if this counts but another one is ethcinity. There's hardly any mixed asian/white apart from my cousin at my school or where I live.

Think of something in your character, Arty.

Me: I LIVE by my planner. I don't actually follow it strictly..it's more of a to-do list I carry around, but I CONSTANTLY look at it. So I guess it boils down to, I don't like to miss a thing. So I write it down so that I get to it eventually. I'm anal in that respect. I'm probably overly organized, is one of my norm-breakers..

    Something in my character, hmmm...

Well, you know there's this general idea that woman always want marriage?
I think marriage is b/s, and thus don't really believe.
Not to say I won't settle into it if I find the right guy to convince me.
Besides, why support an institution that is prejudiced against a group of people?

I'm an perfectionist. If it's not top notch, then it's not good enough. Thats another one for me.

Shoot, I wish I had something I could think of, being a single mom, I dont have much that I can break out of the shell per say. I have to be somewhat of a role model for him. If I think of something I'll let you know Nomas! Good subject!

Alright, let me clarify..I was thinking of things more along the lines of deviant behavior, not so much things you can't help like having curly hair...which I happen to be the proud owner of as well...

Here's another one for me: It doesn't bother me at all that a girl has a reputation for being "easy". If I like a girl, I want to get to know her and see where it goes from there, regardless of the past. I think most people do care about "the reputation" so I think I break the norm there.

They say you can tell a person by his/her past. I say, let their future actions tell me who they are.
