How long to wait before texting back?

I've noticed that if you text 1 or 2 minutes after you received the text, you usually get a shorter response (1 word response ; wow, lol, or just a smiley face).
However, I've been "experimenting" a little on this girl I like, and I've been waiting 15 minutes before texting back, and sometimes 4 minutes after getting the text to mix it up.
It seems the conversation is a lot better, and shes not sending anymore one word texts..
So what do you ladies think? Do you get a little excited if you get a text from a guy who doesn't text back immediately which would be about 1-2 minutes, or do you absolutely find it annoying when a guy
waits 15 mins aprox?

Just make sure you don't reply with a one-word message to a long message... if you do that, it's like you don't really care about what she has to say, nor think she is worth spending the time to think about a decent response.

I actually agree - I prefer texting over calling, unless I'm already in a serious relationship with a guy. Then again, I don't like talking on the phone in general, not even with my girl friends or my family. So I don't know if it counts, and it's DEFINITELY not because I "like to make guys wait anxiously".

Wrong. Tommy is quite on the ball; girls like the "mix(ing) up" of things. Girls like overanalyzing every minute detail and in text it is especially critical.
