Mixed signals

Hi everyone,

I don't really understand what's just happened:

So, me and my boyfriend haven't seen each other in about 6 weeks now and of course distance is hard but we're dealing with it as best we can. Today, I uploaded a photo of myself on a social networking site, just me smiling, wearing a new lipstick I bought recently.
After seeing this photo, he commented saying 'is it weird that I find it annoying that I haven't seen this lipstick yet it's available for public viewing?', I replied reassuring him that I wish he could see it but we can't help that right now and he replies saying 'yeah I know, it's just been so long' and now he's said he needs time to himself and that his anger or annoyance isn't directed at me or anyone.
He didn't compliment the photo nor did he mention that he misses me but I'm having trouble understanding why he reacted that way. I don't think I did anything wrong so perhaps the distance is affecting him? What does everyone think?

You didn't do a damn thing wrong. You took what sounds to me like a "happy" picture of yourself. And for him to even think that and POST it is pathetic. I have a FB, and my main pic is of me all dolled up. My man compliments me...
Being away for 6 weeks is pure BS for even acting that way.

Sorry to say but he was just being as ass when he made that comment. Maybe he had a bad day or something?
