I would never let my 12 year old "date". How can you "date" when you are 12? You can't even drive a car! However, I would allow a 12 year old on outings in a group. Maybe you should try doing that...

Twelve is sorta young. I had a puppy love girlfriend in 7th and 8th grade (12 and 13 years old)...but I wouldn't call it a "girlfriend" is full blown sense. Have fun and be casual.

well, i had the biggest crush on this girl when i was 9 and kinda pursued her till..14 or so before i starting dating my eventual wife at 15. I had my first date when I was 11 or 12 and my "girlfriend" was the same age. We went out for like six months, but we barely talked to each other at school I think we were too nervous to even hold hands, but it was still an incredibly rich experience at that age.

Anyway no, I don't think 12 is too young to date. If there's any problems get a parent to chaperone you guys - they can sit in another part of the cinema if there's any dramas.
