The Queen of Ethics has finally arrived, 4 pages later. Just in time.

[edit] Speaking of things I just realized, I just realized basilandthyme's name is "basil and thyme". Mother of GOD. I fucking LOVE basil and thyme and rosemary and all that good shit. We used to grow some in the garden and I would spray it over everything, like sprinkles on ice cream. I actually have some basil in the cupboard right now; no thyme, though. Feels like I'm 1 bottle of thyme short of having my shit together.

Ugh. Indi is marrying one of them.
But we won't be having children, so Dawkins would be pleased. Perhaps my purpose is to convert *him* to the benefits of rational atheism. He's rather good about my scientific bent, and he doesn't believe in creationism or the like.

Anyway, he thinks I'm an angel sent from heaven for him, so that works for me.

I think that particular hatred is a human construct. I think that it could be posited that if there is a God, and he made humanity, then he made gays the way they are, and is cool with it.

Side note: Fred Phelps is dying. I wonder what his reaction will be when he arrives in hell.

He sounded like a real standup guy. Wife and child-beater who hated the world, not just gays. I hope his death brings him some peace. It will certainly give it to others.

Phelps' daughter Shirley stated that a funeral for her father will not be held because Westboro does not "worship the dead".
Totally killed a beautiful opportunity to troll.

peoples ethics are ever changing, varying, and susceptible to bend. most often wrong. yet people live by them even to the demise of society.

I have no problem with homosexuality, but I just want to point out this argument doesn't hold. Not the least of which is God may or may not exist, but also that we could insert "murderer" in your statement with a very different response.

Its about values. Phelps' was just whacked.

If God exists, he also created murder and is cool with it. So what? HIA's argument is useful to argue back to fundamentalist christians (or any monotheistic and homophobic religion), that's all. It doesn't imply that everything that God created is morally right - although of course, fundamentalist christians would probably jump to that conclusion.

No. God created free will, which was used by man to do evil.

Yeah, that's what they say to wriggle out of that one. For someone to murder someone, murder has to exist... God created murder or else murder wouldn't exist. Oh but wait, he did it to give us the precious opportunity to make the right choice between "good" and "evil", it was for our own good. Nice. God also created tsunamis and hurricanes and malaria though.

I'm not an apologist. Even if logic is a universal constant, the universe is only a subset of the God superset. Therefore, it would be impossible to fully or effectively explain God using logic.

it's not ok to bash black people, it's not ok to bash muslims, it's not ok to even reasonably disagree with homosexuality, but it's perfectly ok and socially acceptable to bash christians.

    the devils on his way.
