    Nervous about a date!

Okay so I have been single for about 3 or 4 months now fresh off of a six year relationship. I've talked to a few ladies...did the you know with a few of em...well needless too say I have a friend at work that I ended up getting emotionally involved with. It got really ugly and now it's just extremely awkward. So we have the company Xmas party this Sunday which I wasn't planning on attending...Another female co-worker/friend of mine and I were discussing this. She said she was probably just going to bring one of her male friends and I said if I go I'll be going alone...simply based on the fact that every girl I am involved with right now is attractive..but just not beautiful enough to be a date for the evening at a rather large social event....wow that sounds so shallow *not my typical ways I promise* So I said jokingly "what about your best friend she's gorgeous...I mean almost as gorgeous as me." We joked and said how the co-worker I was involved with will probably get all jealous and such and how it would be kind of amusing...Needless to say I didn't think she would actually ask her and she did! Well her friend agreed to go...now I'm not entirely sure what she said to convince her to come along...like maybe she said "Hey it would be funny to see this girl get all pissed cause he's with another gorgeous woman" or "Hey he thinks your really cute and is interested in you, you should come hang out with us." Basically what I am asking is am I correct to assume that regardless of how it was broke down to her. Her agreeing to escort me to this party is a nice indicator that she is interested in seeing what possibilities we may have for...whatever. I am totally nervous right now considering the scale of beauty that this girl has...I'm no slouch by any means but it's a little nerve racking when you've not had to date in many many many years. Any advice is absolutely appreciated and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

I don't think it was smart of you to have relationships with fellow employees for exactly this reason. Although your friend thinks it will be amusing to watch the girl you were sleeping with get upset, I think it's kind of stupid and short-sighted. If she has an emotional outburst over this, not only will she look kind of crazy, but YOU will look like an asshole, and all your bosses will be there to see it. Being seen as an asshole will not be a good career move.

BTW - your friend sounds like a pot-stirrer. You'd better watch your back.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?
