I just looked up information about getting a trainer at the gym on campus. It can get expensive fast. It will cost me $300 a month for a trainer. Looks like I have to buy some more workout equipment for my dorm room.

    shheadz says:

"Try adding some protein shakes/powders, and creatine."

why creatine? You shouldn't tell people what stuff to take unless you are prepared to explain how it works.

"They recommend you take in about 1900-2000 calories a day with most of it coming from protein obviously. 350-400 g protein, fat 40 g, carbs 90 g."

haha, sources? This is actually horrible advice. You need to eat carbs with protein in a 2:1 ratio otherwise you are wasting money on protein as your body will just piss it out.

Two good books to start with are "From Scrawny to Brawny" and "Brawn".

One thing you're going to find with people that tend towards the ectomorph body type, besides needing a lot of clean caloric intake, is a dependence on compound exercises. We're talking squats, deadlifts, bench, clean and jerk etc... things you're just not going to be able to accomplish with your current equipment.

This is beginning to look impossible. I have been told to try calisthenics, but I have not seen any results by doing it for 5 months.

Do you mean you haven't seen any results in mass or you literally have not seen any results whatsoever?

unless you are an old lady or obese, calisthenics are mostly a waste of time.

Of course it looks impossible, you keep trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.

Why looking at a PT at the gym. Sign to a gym. Start using mutiple pieces of equipment. Learn how to use them safely and read up on where to start.

Dumbells in a dorm is not going to beef u up any time soon. And certainly wont enable you to have a wellrounds regular exercise routine!

well you figure, if you consume 3500 cals a day, you'll put on about a pound. body builders will usually consume about 7000 cals a day because of their intense work outs. 5500 is just a rough estimate, but it depends on how much you're working out.
