Driving for the Love of It

I keep noticing that a lot more people in their 20s, 30s, DO NOT drive and use public transit. What ever happened to people who had their drivers licenses and had cars and loved driving? I don't mind using public transit to get around but once its night time its harder to get around especially being a women.

Cars are expensive as is gas. Also, they can be a pain in the neck. Break-downs, accidents, traffic jams. Who wants that? It's much easier to get around town via subway than sit in a metal box a couple of hours until the congestion clears.
