    More roommate issues

So I got rid of my roommates ex girlfriend because she was, for lack of a better term, a bitch. The problem has returned, except now my roommate is being the bitch. Its like when she left and they broke up, she left a carbon copy of herself instilled in him.

I am just frustrated by everything these days, we have become two completely separate people. I am social, I go out every weekend and do something with friends. He goes to his cousin's house, smokes weed and plays Halo and Pokemon. I honestly want a roommate that I at least feel something in common with.

He recently bought an xbox because my old one had the red rings of death and stopped working. Well, I never bothered to get it fixed, mostly because I didn't play it at all, and apparently that bothered him. He played mine plenty when it worked and I had no problem with it at all. Now, when I play his he acts like its a privilege. I ended up giving mine to a guy I ride with so he could see if he could fix it. I told him that it was his if he fixed it.

Anyway, he announced today that he was going to get a tv. Well I put two and two together and figured that it was because he was going to move the xbox into his room or something because I own the tv. Turns out I was right. Later today he tells me that if I "play nice" he wont go and get a tv. Up to this point I see nothing that I have done that should cause any kind of problems.

I was pretty pissed off about the whole thing by this point and tonight was the nail in the coffin. His cat, who we really don't need because she's not declawed and tears shit up, puked on the floor. He gets out my carpet cleaning stuff for PETS, which I don't have here and cleans it up. This brings up the topic of air fresheners and he mentions that I should grab some if I am at the store.

As I am leaving tonight to run an errand, I ask him about it and he pretty much tunes me out, as he is on the xbox talking with his cousin and playing a new game he bought. I ask again and he answers in a really snappy and annoyed tone. I called him out on it and told him he was being a dick and his answer is "whatever....what's your problem." I was really honest at that point and said "I am tired of living with you".....again I am greeted with "whatever, bye."

Its taking about every ounce of patience I have to not rip his head off. I put up with his girlfriend for long enough, and now I am putting up with him who might as well be her in a male body.

I am out of options and patience, I really don't know how to handle this anymore. I hate being disrespected and his attitude pretty much pushes all my buttons.

I think I am just best off buying another xbox and putting the shit in my room. It will probably be the final division between us and cease any interaction we have until our lease is up in February.

Am I overreacting or missing something here? I know I can be a dick some days, and honestly I became a more bitter person after he and his girlfriend were both here. Their shitty attitudes didn't affect my personality in a positive way.

I really don't know how to handle this...I don't want to lose a friend, but he's hardly a friend anymore and I am sick of it.

CB, compatible roomates are hard to find. The best roomates I've had are ones that all stay in their separate rooms lest they come out and bug each other too much. Unfortunately some people just do NOT share well.

I think it's wise to separate your stuff so that it's less communal until February. Then get a new roomie or move out. The stress isn't worth it. You might actually be able to salvage the friendship too before further damage is done.

I hear you, it's pretty annoying when things go sour with room mates. When did you first start to notice this change in him? How long have you lived together? When does your lease expire?

By the way, declawing is illegal in Australia, it's only allowed if it's done for the health benefits of the cat. Otherwise it's considered a type of animal cruelty.

About halfway through his relationship with his ex girlfriend.......4 months ago? We have lived together for 2 years when our lease expires in February.

Declawing may be illegal, but taking care of your cat isn't. When she shits on the floor, he cleans it up....doesn't bother to clean the litter box which is full...hence why the cat went on the floor. The cat has destroyed a section of carpet in his room around his door and damaged some near my door. Its going to require re-carpeting I think and Hell will freeze over before he sees a dime from me for damage.

Declawing may be mean, but me drop kicking it out the front door isn't any nicer. Its not the cats fault, although the first time I caught my cat tearing up carpet would be the last time that cat sat on its butt for a week.

That made me feel a little better. This year I've been rooming with my friend from 'chusetts. There are a few things he does which annoy me:

    - sometimes forgets to clean out the bathtub drain.
    - never takes out the trash
    - leaves cabinets open

Of course, those things are just minor issues that I can handle. Sometimes I feel like his damn maid, but whatever. The worst thing he does is eat ****in' canned tuna, which is the most disgusting food ever. It stinks so bad. I sometimes think he does it to annoy me! He eats it like 3-4 times a week. To make matters worse, he dowses his ****in' tuna with mayo, which is so disgusting. Yuck yuck yuck.
